If a trusted business partner or client is repeatedly getting caught by MailShield's spam filters, you do not need to lower your global spam score threshold and expose your network to more junk mail. Instead, you can add them to your Sender Allowlist (traditionally known as a whitelist).
Adding an email address or an entire domain to your Allowlist tells MailShield to completely bypass spam filtering for that sender, guaranteeing their messages are delivered straight to your inbox.
How to allowlist a sender
- Log into your MailShield dashboard and navigate to the Policies page.
- Locate the Sender Allowlist section.
- In the input box, type the specific email address (e.g.,
billing@trusted-partner.com) or the entire domain (e.g.,trusted-partner.com) that you want to approve. - Click the Add button or press Enter on your keyboard.
The entry will instantly appear in your list with a green indicator, and the MailShield gateway will immediately begin accepting their mail without restriction.
Blocking senders (Denylist)
Conversely, if a persistent marketer keeps slipping into your inbox because they do not trigger enough spam points to cross your threshold, you can use the Sender Denylist located right next to the Allowlist. Adding a domain or email here ensures their messages are blocked automatically, regardless of their spam score.
Managing large lists
If your Allowlist or Denylist grows to more than five entries, a search bar will automatically appear at the top of the respective list. You can use this to quickly filter and find specific domains or email addresses without manually scrolling.
To remove a sender from your Allowlist, simply hover over their entry in the list and click the Trash icon that appears on the far right. The change takes effect immediately.
(Note: Policy configuration is only available after you have successfully added at least one domain to your MailShield account. If you see a "Configuration Locked" warning, please add your domain in the Managed Domains section first.)
